Description

RedStar DNA/RNA Loading Dye (6x) : User friendly than EtBr / Safer Alternative to EtBr

Introducing RedStar DNA/RNA Loading Dye (6x) , the innovative solution for your DNA and RNA visualization needs. Designed to replace traditional Ethidium Bromide (EtBr), RedStar offers enhanced safety without compromising on performance.

  • Safer Than EtBrNon-carcinogenic and eco-friendly, reducing health risks and environmental impact.

  • • Superior Performance : Provides clear, sharp bands and is compatible with a wide range of gel electrophoresis applications.

  • • Convenient and Ready-to-Use : Pre-mixed with loading buffer, simplifying your workflow and saving you valuable time.

  • • Versatile : Works effectively with both DNA and RNA samples, making it a versatile addition to lab.

RedStar DNA/RNA Loading Dye (6x) is a novel and safe nucleic acid stain, offering a superior alternative to the traditional ethidium bromide (EtBr) stain for detecting nucleic acids in agarose gels. The fluorescent dye binds to DNA or RNA, allowing for clear and bright visualization under UV light. This makes it easier to track the progress of electrophoresis and analyze the results. The loading dye is mixed with the samples before loading onto the gel. This simplifies the process and ensures that the dye is evenly distributed throughout the sample. The loading dye contains tracking dyes that migrate at different rates during electrophoresis. This helps to monitor the progress of the run and ensures that the nucleic acids are migrating as expected. The dye is supplied in a ready-to-use format, eliminating the need for additional preparation. Simply mix the dye with your sample, load it onto the gel, and proceed with electrophoresis. By using a fluorescent staining reagent-contained DNA/RNA loading dye, researchers can achieve more accurate and efficient visualization of nucleic acids, streamline their workflows, and improve the overall quality of their electrophoresis results.

RedStar DNA/RNA Loading Dye (6x) has higher sensitivity compared to EtBr at small molecules and low concentrations and has enhanced migration pattern compare to other similar type of dye product (supplier A).

3) High Sensitivity and Low Gel Diffusion

 • High SensitivityCapable of detecting RNA quantities as low as 100ng.

 • Low Gel Diffusion : Exhibits minimal diffusion within the gel, particularly for low molecular weight fragments, ensuring precise and reliable detection.

TroubleShooting Guide

QIs RedStar suitable for UV illumination?
AThe RedStar™ is suitable for UV illumination.

QDoes RedStar™ perform with low concentration of DNA?
ARedStar™ can perform with low concentration of DNA. However, the smaller fragments of less than 300bp are not as bright as the bigger one.

QCan we use RedStar for RNA as well as DNA?
ARedStar™ can be used for RNA as well as DNA.

QWe usually add RedStar to sample (PCR product). Is it okay for staining gel after loading?
AIt can be cast directly in the sample, loaded along with DNA sample and not used as a post-stain.

QWhat is the needed wave length to see the color?
ARedStar™ one fluorescence excitation maxima when it is bound to nucleic acid. It has one visible excitation of 595 nm.

QThe standard filters (wavelength) used for EtBr are suitable for use with RedStar™?
AThe red/orange filters for EB-stained gels should be used with RedStar™-stained gels.

QIs it possible to re-stain the gel with DNA in RedStar solution?
ANo, it is not possible to re-stain the gel with DNA in RedStar™ solution. RedStar™ is a DNA staining solution that directly stains the DNA. Since the DNA is already present in the gel, it is not possible to re-stain the gel with RedStar™ solution, as the DNA is already stained within the gel.

QHow safe is how we can dispose it after use?
ARedStar™ does not create toxic waste. RedStar is not a toxic compound, so it can be disposed of using the standard methods for laboratory waste disposal.

QRegarding uneven background, what can be done to improve it?
ARedStar™ directly stains the DNA, so the gel background is not stained. However, the background may be stained in the individual lanes where the DNA has migrated. Even if the background is stained, it does not affect the observation of the DNA.

QCan RedStar be used as a post electrophoresis stain?
ANo, it can't be.

QDoes RedStar™ interfere with downstream applications?
AIt is avoidable to leave RedStar™ in downstream solution. You may purify the DNA solution with purification kit.

QCan RedStar™ be run with the DNA in the gel like EtBr?
ANo, it cannot be used. Using RedStar™ in the gel with DNA, like EtBr, is not recommended. ncorporating RedStar™ directly into the gel can lead to uneven staining and high background signals. This can negatively impact the visualization and analysis of the DNA bands.

QIs it able to be used with Sodium Borate, TAE and TBE buffers?
AWhen you run agarose gel, the electrophoresis buffer may be TAE and TBE buffers.

QCan RedStar™ use as dilution?
ANo, RedStar™ should not be used as a dilution. The product is provided as a 6X concentrate, so it should be mixed with the sample at a 5:1 ratio (sample to product) for proper use.

QCan I use a higher concentration of RedStar™ than the 5:1 ratio?
ANo, it is not recommended to use a higher concentration of RedStar™ than the 5:1 sample to product ratio. The product is formulated to be used at the 5:1 ratio for optimal performance and results. Using a higher concentration may lead to increased background signal or other undesirable effects. It is best to follow the recommended usage instructions provided with the RedStar™ product.

QIs RedStar™ impenetrable to latex gloves?
ARedStar™ should be impenetrable to latex gloves. So it is necessary to wear gloves when staining DNA gel with RedStar™.

QIs RedStar™ impenetrable to cell membranes?
ARedStar™ is used in detecting naked DNA or RNA in agarose gels.

QWhat about stability of RedStar™ towards light? Should it be stored in the dark?
AYes, it should be. The reason that we provide RedStar™ in brown vials is for optimal performance.

QCan RedStar™ be used for pulse field gel electrophoresis?
AIt is not recommended to use RedStar™ for pulse field gel electrophoresis.

QWhat is the shelf life?
AIt is 1 year.

QWhat is the shipment temperature?
AIt must be refrigerated.

QWhat is the storage temperature?
AIt must be refrigerated.
